The Luna County Ranchette Owners Association is pleased to announce a grant opportunity for 501(c)(3) organizations in Luna County. Gila Community Foundation (previously operating as Grant County Community Foundation) will be granting $10,000 from our Luna County Donor Fund. One to two grants will be awarded in the spring of 2025. Applications are due by February 15, 2025.
Our northern Chihuahua Desert, with its high number of sunny days and low humidity, along with low-cost housing, beautiful mountain scenery, and low population, makes it a very desirable place to live for retirees. The resulting “outside” money flowing into our economy makes Luna County a great place to live. But like all deserts, the Chihuahua Desert is fragile for human habitation. Limited potable water, dust storms, high summer temperatures, and a fragile plant and animal ecosystem create a low human carrying capacity for Luna County. This is especially true when we consider the well-being of future generations.
